To date we have reached more than one million beneficiaries across 19 active provinces - from Sumatera Utara to Papua Barat - through programmes including AI Ready ASEAN (AI literacy, with ASEAN Foundation and Google.org), AIM ASEAN (AI for MSMEs), #JagaSamaSama (anti-scam and digital safety), and Kaizen DIA (digital-inclusive access for persons with disabilities and underserved regions).
We work alongside Google.org, ASEAN Foundation, AVPN, Microsoft, DFAT Australia, BRI Research Institute, Kementerian Komunikasi dan Digital, Kementerian UMKM, and Kementerian Pendidikan Dasar dan Menengah, together with a growing network of campus and community partners.
Working at Kaizen means building things that reach people who are usually reached last. We offer a collaborative, fast-moving environment with real ownership and room to grow, both personally and professionally.
The Candidate
We are looking for a communications professional who treats communications as a strategic lever - not a publishing queue. This full-time, hybrid role is based in Jakarta, Indonesia, and reports to the Managing Director.
The role sits at the intersection of storytelling, partner engagement, and programme visibility. You will turn what happens in a classroom in Ambon, an MSME training in Takalar, or an anti-scam session in a village hall into narratives that funders, media, ministries, and partners actually pay attention to.
To do well here, you need to be comfortable with ambiguity and comfortable with the field. Kaizen's best material rarely arrives pre-packaged - it has to be spotted, chased, and shaped. You will also be the person who keeps Kaizen's voice consistent across programmes that carry different partner brands, different audiences, and different reporting requirements.
A working understanding of digital literacy, AI, and online safety matters - enough to ask good questions and to translate complex programme goals into campaigns that move people from awareness to action. Just as important: you are disciplined about accuracy, and you would rather flag an unverified number than publish it.
Above all, you believe digital opportunity should not depend on where someone happens to be born.
Key Responsibilities
1. Communications and outreach
Proactively identify, extract, and develop high-impact stories from Kaizen's field programmes and partner network to engage funders, media, and government stakeholders.
Turn programme milestones and field results into case studies, impact stories, ecosystem guides, and marketing assets that demonstrate real, verifiable change.
Set the messaging and narrative direction across Kaizen's channels (website, newsletter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube) and treat them as strategic tools rather than vanity-metric dashboards.
Lead the end-to-end communications strategy for assigned programmes, from launch campaign through to closing report.
Maintain accuracy discipline across all outputs - no unverified statistics, no unsourced impact claims.
2. Partner and funder alignment
Meet the communications and visibility requirements of programme partners (e.g. ASEAN Foundation, Google.org), including branding guidelines, reporting deliverables, and content submission deadlines.
Contribute Indonesian impact stories and field insights to partners' regional and global communications initiatives.
Ensure narrative alignment between Kaizen's national activities and partner-level objectives.
Participate in partner and regional knowledge-sharing forums when required.
3. Ecosystem capacity building
Advise and coach local partners, campus coordinators, and community facilitators so they can shape and share their own impact narratives.
Develop and deploy communication templates, toolkits, and knowledge sessions tailored to the needs of assigned programmes.
Support public-facing knowledge formats such as the #NgertiDigital webinar series.
4. Leadership and management
Lead, guide, and mentor communications team members, interns, and contributors.
Plan, manage, and report on the communications workplan and budget.
Qualifications and Requirements
3+ years of experience in communications, ideally in a non-profit, development, or social-impact setting.
Working understanding of digital literacy, AI, and/or online safety issues - or a demonstrated ability to get up to speed quickly.
Proven experience managing projects involving multiple stakeholders, including institutional funders or government partners.
Proven experience facilitating workshops, sharing knowledge, or coaching others to communicate more effectively.
Proven experience developing and managing multimedia content, campaigns, and outreach (written, visual, and video).
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English - both are used daily.
High degree of professional ethics and integrity, and a proactive, execution-oriented can-do attitude.
Independent, entrepreneurial, fast-moving, and adept at collaborating across diverse teams, regions, and cultural contexts.
Willingness to travel to programme locations across Indonesia.
Nice to Have
Experience with donor-funded programme reporting and branding compliance.
Familiarity with AI tools for content production, and the judgement to know when not to use them.
Hands-on design or video editing capability (Canva, Adobe, CapCut).
What We Offer
Direct involvement in programmes reaching over one million beneficiaries across Indonesia.
Collaboration with global and regional partners including Google.org, ASEAN Foundation, Microsoft, and AVPN.
A collaborative, inclusive team with genuine ownership over how things are done.
Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
